The HealthCare Providers Chamber (HCP) was founded eight
years ago. Since then, its Board of Directors has decided to commit to
achieving the following goals of the Chamber:
1-
Promoting
the private sector's role as a partner in developing healthcare services.
2-
Uniting
the efforts within the private medical sector to overcome the problems facing
healthcare services, the most critical of which
are: low service prices, soaring prices of medical supplies, and the state's
refusal to use the private sector's services in return for considerable prices.
3-
Launching
an integrated project with the aim of assessing the quality standard of each HPC member
healthcare institution, and providing advice on how to achieve the technical
and administrative standards expected of every healthcare service provider.
4-
4-Promoting
medical services exports to sisterly Arab countries and developing medical
tourism to attract patients from around the Arab world to seek treatment in
Egyptian medical institutions.
5-
Cooperating
with the Doctors Syndicate and the Ministry of Health to lay down a guiding
price list for medical services and physicians fees. Members shall stick to
this list, but may vary the prices at the reasonable rate of 15%, for example.
The list shall be reviewed annually by a committee representing all parties
concerned.
6-
Contributing
to relieving the state's burden of providing healthcare services to
limited-income people by applying what the Investment Law stipulates: either
treat 10% of patients for free or for subsidized fees, and registering this
data to be submitted annually to the Egyptian Doctors Syndicate and the
Ministry of Health.
7-
Building
a database of the private healthcare sector in Egypt and creating a website on
the internet to make this database accessible to everyone, especially for new
investments in the private healthcare sector in Egypt.
8-
Focusing
on training medical cadres: physicians, nurses, pharmacists…etc, to lay the
foundations for a powerful workforce in the medical field.
9-
Expressing
opinion regarding any legislation relevant to medical practices of the private
sector.
10-
Introducing
state-of-the-art technologies in the various medical fields of the private
sector provided they are internationally recognized as beneficial and safe.
11-
Protecting
the interests of medical institutions and doctors' clinics should they be
subject to criticism, and taking part in investigations, should a dispute
involving the private healthcare sector arise, God forbid.
12-
Seeking
to decrease the prices of medical supplies through forming committees to
appraise the quality of these supplies and set a guiding price list for the
benefit of the HPC members.
Moreover, the HPC adopts any new approaches that
aim at improving healthcare services as well as helping Egyptians with any
issue that may come up in this area.
HCP Board of Directors, elected every three years, is
comprised of 15 members; ten elected and five appointed by the Minister of
Industry.
The HCP now includes 460 members from the private
sector (hospitals, specialized medical centers, laboratories, radiology
centers, and healthcare companies).
